>>---> New CONFIG.XRS parameters in 4.10
To use an external mail bundler, use this parameter - the program is
responsible for handling all aspects of the outbound mail processing.
;Bundler XRS2REP.EXE
>>---> New CONFIG.XRS parameters in 4.02
To place ^aPID: lines into echomail in addition to blank tearlines:
;Pids
To force alternate handling of hot-keys for SCO Xenix environment
by replacing <ALT_Fx> keys with <SHIFT_Fx> in editor, etc.:
;No Alt Keys
To force redirection to CON: during external program calls, use:
;Force Redirection
>>---> New CONFIG.XRS parameters in 4.00
If you can't stand the blinking cursor bar in "List View" mode, try
turning it off by removing any marking of quoted text:
No Mark
In order to have XRS search another disk and/or subdirectory for its
inbound mailbags (instead of in the current directory), use:
;Indir d:\comm\download
To always show messages in a scrolling viewable window instead of one
page at a time (note: default is optimize list/page mode automatically).
;List View
To view messages in the old manner (i.e. page by page) all the time
;Page View
In order to force continual updating of the highlighted message header
during <J>ump selection use this parameter - note that you can force the
header to show anyway with the <TAB> key (continuous updating may be too
slow on your machine).
;Jump Headers
Since XRS now does verticle retrace wait (avoids snow on CGA monitors)
automatically, if you have CGA hardware that does not get snowy, use
;No Snow
XRS continually updating the time on the bottom of the screen during
message reading and editing, it interferes with "ScreenTalk" (and other
similar) hardware used by visually impared users. To avoid this use
;No Seconds
If the clock at the bottom of the screen causes problems or sluggish
performance, you can completely eliminate it using
;No Clock
Because so many people have asked for it, I have whacked on C_Worthy
source-code (again) to allow you to swap the normal editor key functions
for "Paste" and "Toggle overwrite/insert". Normally, <INS> does a paste
and <F9> swaps insert and overwritet modes - with this parm, they reverse
<INS> <F9> Reversed
XRS will automatically prompt you to change the to name each time you
reply to or quote a message if you use
To Name Prompt
>>---> New CONFIG.XRS parameters in 3.40
XRS will not continuously display the Row/Pos information onscreen with
;No Edit Info
>>---> New CONFIG.XRS parameters in 3.30
XRS now expands <TAB> characters in imported files to 8 spaces. If you
want to vary this (to anything within the range 1 to 10 spaces), use this:
;Tab 4
When XRS displays file picklists, it now shows both the date and time of
creation or last update. If you prefer DD.MM.YY instead of MM-DD-YY, use
;EuroDate
To automatically search and mark found messages Note: searches are *not*
case-sensative. Both must be no more than 30 characters - be sure to imbed
underlines when you need spaces in the search string! You may now have up
to 10 AutoMatch parameters, which are executed in reverse order, leaving the
matches found with the *first* AutoMatch parameter with color cascading.
;AutoMatch XRS
XRS will not display all the matched text detail during AutoTag, AutoMatch
or <F8> text searches if you use the following parameter: (it speeds up the
slower CGA cards 3-500% and most other cards 150-200%)
;Hide Search
The "Buffer" parameter is back (and works correctly). You may preallocate
from 512 to 32768 bytes of memory for use as a ring-buffer for I/O to the
BAT?MAIL.XRS file(s). You need to experiment with this to get it right -
each different combination of CPU speed and disk drive will have its own
optimum block-size. Using to large a buffer on a slower machine may have
the effect of causing bumpy performance, where making it too small may give
sluggish performance. If you have a fast hard drive and a 386, set it on
up to 32768 for best performance.
